Flexibility is one of the key requirements of an IT infrastructure. Now a days, Companies are relying on solutions that allow them to adapt to constantly changing requirements. But at the same time companies hesitate to use a shared host system due to strategic or safety reasons, but work with own hardware resources instead.
The new Bare Metal Server by InterNetX combines the flexibility of virtual systems with the advantages of dedicated solutions. The user receives a dedicated hardware resource, which he can choose from one of four basic configurations. The administration software, the operating system and the desired services are stored in a separate layer through the hypervisor. This allows the system to be migrated in a lesser time – such as when additional resources are needed fast.
Manuel Pühl, CTO of InterNetX, recommends the bare metal servers primarily to users who need to handle huge volumes of data. “If the performance of the selected configuration reaches its capacity limits, the containers which include the operating system and services can be easily migrated to a more powerful hardware.
“Compared to a dedicated server, costly migrations and updates aren’t necessary”, says Manuel Pühl. With up to 512 GB of RAM, two Intel Xeon E5 8C processors and four times 2 TB NL-SAS in the RAID network the Bare Metal Server meets all criteria of demanding projects.
To ensure secure changes or updates, the Bare Metal Server comes with the Snapshot feature. With this function, the system can easily be reset to a previously stored state so that updates or other adjustments can be performed without risk. LiveConfig® and Odin® Plesk can be chosen as administration software and the Bare Metal Servers run CentOS 7 as operating system.
The solution can additionally be expanded through the Managed Service of InterNetX. This includes a traffic flat rate, Monitoring Professional and the Software Update Service (SUD), which automatically keeps the system updated. The server can be managed through the free InterNetX Server Administration Center (ISAC), which also allows users to view the traffic data, basic information and services of individual products.
The InterNetX Bare Metal Servers are hosted in the company’s data center in Munich. The Tier 3 Data Center meets the highest requirements in the areas of climate control, power supply and security technology. A multiple redundant connection with a total bandwidth of more than 50 Gbit/s guarantees the best performance. InterNetX relies exclusively on quality hard and software by providers such as Dell and other brands.
