Cloud application security firm Elastica has expanded into Australia this week through agreements with telecommunications firm Telstra and Cisco. Elastica recently announced a reseller agreement with Cisco and a strategic partnership with Telstra, giving Australian businesses more visibilty into their cloud application security.

Through the agreements, businesses in Australia will have access to Elastica’s platform, which uses data science and machine learning to provide visibility and real-time detection of threats. Users can create granular policies to prevent sensitive data from being exposed.

Elastica is headquartered in San Jose, California, and it launched its flagship solution, the Elastica CloudSOC platform, in 2014. In March, it closed a $30 million Series B funding round led by Third Point Ventures, with participation from Mayfield Fund and Pelion Venture Partners.

“Australia’s thirst for cloud-based solutions makes it a key market for Elastica, given the big blind spot that exists for monitoring and blocking malicious activities within various Cloud and SaaS applications,” John Cunningham, Managing Director APAC, Elastica Inc said in a statement. “Elastica provides granular capabilities to monitor, track and block user activities in real time. We have employed leading security practitioners as Cloud Security Consultants in both Sydney and Melbourne to assist our partners and their customers move into the Cloud app era with confidence.”

“Telstra Ventures continually scans the landscape for emerging technologies. When Elastica appeared in mid-2014, we were impressed with the ability to monitor, track and block sensitive data in real time and quickly identify Shadow IT and Shadow Data for cloud applications both SaaS and IaaS, using a Data Science approach and with Zero deployment,” John Ieraci, Director of Security Practice, Telstra, said. “After an in-depth analysis of the alternate vendors, we selected Elastica as our CASB vendor of choice, and invested in the company to strengthen our strategic partnership.”

Anthony Stitt, General Manager of Security Sales, Cisco ANZ, said, “The combination of Cisco’s threat-centric security portfolio and Elastica’s innovation in cloud application security provides a unique opportunity. Our global customers gain additional levels of visibility and control for cloud applications and it enhances our portfolio of advanced cloud-delivered security offerings. We are excited to partner with Elastica to deliver an even richer portfolio of on–premise and cloud application security to protect businesses across the attack continuum – before, during, and after an attack.”
